Frequently Asked Questions

What is the 300 Years, 300 Stories project?

300 Years, 300 Stories is an oral history project aimed at collecting, curating, and preserving the stories of Easton's residents ahead of the town's tricentennial in 2025.

Who is responsible for the project?

The project is organized by the Ames Free Library.  Funding for the project is provided by the Institute of Museum and Library Services and administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

Who can contribute to the project?

We welcome stories from anyone who has ever called Easton home! Whether you've lived here for six months, or your family has lived in town for several generations, we want to hear your story.

How can I contribute to the project?

There are a variety of ways for you to contribute. Click here to learn more about all of the options for sharing your story.

What story should I tell?

Share about your family, your favorite local hangouts from yesterday and today, a school memory, and more. We just ask that you keep your story to 3-5 minutes in length. Visit our Story Prompts and Tips page for more ideas and then share your story!

I'm not comfortable submitting an audio recording. Are there other ways for me to contribute to the project?

Although the focus of the project is oral histories, we're also accepting written stories, photographs, and more. Click here to learn more about all of your options for contributing to the project.

Can I share more than one story?

Of course! We welcome the submission of multiple stories.

I shared my story...now what?

Once you have submitted your story (or stories), your submission will be reviewed by the 300 Years, 300 Stories project staff. Staff and trained volunteers will be creating written transcripts of submitted stories before recordings are posted online to ensure that each story is accessible for everyone who visits our website. This does mean that your story won't be online right away. Project staff will alert you when it is available so that you can share the link to your contribution with family and friends.

Will I be able to listen to stories contributed by others?

Yes! As stories are contributed they will be added to this website for the community to listen to, learn from, and enjoy.

How can I find out what's new with the project?

Check this site regularly for project updates and new stories shared by your neighbors and friends. You can also follow the project on Facebook. Information about special events will be posted on this website, the project's Facebook page, and the Ames Free Library website.

Are there ways to get involved with the project aside from sharing stories?

We're always looking for volunteers to assist with the project. Fill out our contact form if you're interested in volunteering or learning more.
